Allied Leisure becomes biggest bowler

Allied Leisure has become the leading firm in the UK bowling market thanks to its 19.5 million pounds sterling purchase of the GX Superbowl chain from Granada. Allied Leisure will now start to rebrand the new sites to fit in with its Megabowl sites. Allied Leisure MD Neil Goulden says that the firm's aim is to develop 'leisure supermarkets'.

Cannons swallows Pinnacle Leisure

Pinnacle Leisure has been acquired by Cannons for 63 million pounds sterling. The merger brings Cannon's clubs portfolio to 32 and makes it Europe's largest health and fitness concern. Pinnacle's head office will be closed and cost savings of 1.5 million pounds sterling are forecast in the first year.
