Bowl parks
Article Abstract:
The UK has more than 200 bowling alleys in 1996, up from about 50 in the mid-1980s, offering other entertainment facilities as well as bowling. MegaBowl, owned by Allied Leisure, Super Bowl, owned by First Leisure, Hotshots, owned by Rank, and Hollywood Bowl, owned by Bass Leisure, dominate the market. Some 80% of Megabowl's revenue in 1988 was from bowling, but food, amusement machines, and bars account for 55% of revenue in 1996, according to Allied Leisure's chief executive, Neil Golden. The company has invested heavily to attract families and groups and keep them spending.
