Article Abstract:
Advice is available to leisure operators on reducing energy costs by improving facility design. The UK Department of Trade and Industry provides advice on low energy design and the Energy Efficiency Office advises on building assessment. The leisure industry spends about 670 million pounds sterling per annum on energy of which 20% may be wasted. Improved control of lighting and heating may reduce energy consumption without inconveniencing clients.
