Germans are shunning Dominican Republic
Article Abstract:
German tourism to the Dominican Republic has been seriously affected by a charter flight crash in February 1996. Reservations have fallen by as much as 10% in favour of short-haul destinations, North America or other Caribbean destinations. Following the crash, landing rights were withdrawn for several charter airlines. The island has also been criticised for poor airport standards, poor infrastruture, and lack of hotel investment.

Forecasts are mixed for island's tourism future
Article Abstract:
The number of tourists visiting Cyprus will remain stable in 1995 compared with 1995, or may even increase slightly, according to the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO). The number of British people visiting Cyprus has fallen to 900,000 in 1995, from 950,000 in 1994, but there has been a rise in arrivals from Germany, France and Russia. Despite this, the UK is still the most significant market for tourism in Cyprus.
