The National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, England opened in 1937. It comprises the Queen's House, collections in the West and East Wings and the Old Royal Observatory. The West Wing contains the major collection depicting Britain's maritime history. The East Wing houses temporary exhibitions. The Old Royal Observatory exhibition features astronomy and time. Developments in the 1990s include a permanent display featuring 'Twentieth century Sea Power' and renovations of the Queen's House and Old Royal Observatory.

Yorkshire Mining Museum
Article Abstract:
The Yorkshire Mining Museum opened in 1988. South Yorkshire and Wakefield Councils, England collaborated to develop Caphouse Colliery, Wakefield into a leisure attraction. The museum provides a guided underground tour and exhibitions. A history of mining methods is presented through reconstructions. Additional features include a working steam winding engine, rail rides and pit ponies. Disappointing attendance figures may be improved by improved marketing strategies emphasising the museum's entertainment value.

Theatres of war
Article Abstract:
Two museums based on World War, 1939-1945 have opened in London and Malton, England. Operator, Don Robinson opened Winston Churchill's Britain at War Theme Museum in London in October, 1992. Exhibitions depict social life but lack an interpretive element. Stan Johnson opened refurbished prisoner of war camp, Eden Camp, Malton, Yorkshire in 1988. Thirty-two huts house themed exhibitions such as battles or home life.
