New fees threat to CRS bookings
Article Abstract:
Travel agents may be badly affected if the European Commission goes ahead with plans to impose computer reservations system booking fees. At present, the fee, amounting to at least $3 per transaction, is paid by airlines. If this is moved to travel agents, then they could face charges averaging around $750 per terminal each month, based on the current level of around 150 million bookings made in this way in Europe every year.

Agents face losses in World Cup fiasco
Article Abstract:
European travel agents face huge losses following the disappearance of over 30,000 World Cup tickets. Some 20,000 tickets were never received by Belgian clients of Great Portland Entertainments, which has now shut down, resulting in losses of over 148 million Belgian Francs. A further 10,000 tickets failed to appear in Germany. Soccer fans have cancelled their trips to France, due to the lack of tickets.
