Restaurant operators near the new Air Canada Centre (ACC) are satisfied with the strong boost that the sports and entertainment venue has given their businesses. East Side Mario's, for one, noticed a sales increase of between 35% to 50% in 1998, while Bottom Line, a posh sports bar and restaurant, experienced sales improvement of 30%. The ACC, which plans to hold over 200 events annually, has been at close to full capacity in all the events it features.

Article Abstract:
Canada's foodservice industry continues to grow as shown by an analysis of trends of the country's top 100 companies from 1990-99. The analysis indicated that the quick-service sector represented the biggest share of the top 100 with 52%, followed by the hotel foodservice, full-service and multiple sectors, with 17%, 12% and 12%, respectively. While most sectors have experienced growth, the contractor and government foodservice sectors have declined.

Top 100 celebrates 30 years
Article Abstract:
The Foodservice and Hospitality magazine has been ranking the top 100 restaurants of Canada for thirty years now. The methods adopted for ranking and the restaurants featured in the first year of ranking in 1972 are discussed.
