Risk perceptions and pleasure travel: an exploratory analysis
Article Abstract:
Perceptions of risks types involved in pleasure travel were studied using self-administered questionnaires administered on adult university town residents. Cluster analysis resulted in three respondent categories. Risk Neutral travelers perceive travel activity and destinations as safe. Respondents in the Functional Risk group, on the other hand, usually travel with children and their behavior reflects efforts to surmount limitations imposed on travel by young companions. Ironically, Place Risk individuals visit certain destinations repeatedly in spite of perceived risks. Further analysis reveal that their trips were made to fulfill social obligations.

Investigating the influence of welcome center information on travel behavior
Article Abstract:
The effect of welcome center information on the travel behavior patterns of tourists was investigated. The results showed that information provided by welcome centers definitely influences travel behavior. However, the degree to which behavior was affected was heavily dependent on the purpose of the trip. Travelers who purposely went to the area were the most affected while those who were just passing through the area were only marginally influenced by the information.

Highway accessibility and regional tourist expenditures
Article Abstract:
The effect of highway and road networks on the expenditures of tourists within a given area was investigated. The results showed that areas with highly-developed highway systems obtained more revenues from tourist expenditures. In rural areas, highway systems alone accounted for a large amount of variation in tourist expenditures. This indicated that the development of highway systems can indirectly bring about improvements in an area's economy.
