Should the ETB take responsibilty for RTB failures?
Article Abstract:
The financial failure of The Thames and Chilterns Regional Tourist Board (RTB) has highlighted the relationship between the English Tourist Board and the RTBs. Jon Cockerill of The Tourism Works maintains the Development of Tourism Act 1969 gave overall responsibility to the English Tourist Board. The ETB's annual report Mar 31 1992 admits greater responsibility for monitoring the RTBs finance. Chief Executive of the ETB John East maintains RTBs are independent companies working in partnership with the ETB. They make independent commercial decisions. The ETB only has an advisory and supportive function.
