A gathering of cranes
Article Abstract:
The banks of Nebraska's Platte River gets filled with migrating cranes from March to April each year. The birds, which stop along a 50-mile stretch of the Platte as they head for the subarctic country where they nest in summer, attract huge crowds who marvel at their sheer number.

Ship of reveries

A handsomely detailed Viking ship replica named Hjemkomst is displayed at the Heritage-Hjemkomst Interpretive Center in Moorhead, MN. The ship measures 76 feet long and patterned after the Gokstad ship displayed at the Viking Ships Museum in Oslo, Norway.
