Some of the most scenic spots in the US can only be appreciated through a cross-country road trip. A week-long automobile drive across the US gives one a chance to savor each state's distinct features as well as the opportunity to stay in one location for as long as one desires.

A 263-mile drive through bayou country in Louisiana, in a BMW Z4, is described. The two-day drive began in New Orleans, went west to Napoleonville, and ended in St. Martinville. Stops made along the drive are described.
