Article Abstract:
J&S Hawken rifles are some of the best relics of the muzzle-loading rifle era and are sought by collectors. The process of authenticating these antiques and a study of these fine rifles are presented and discussed.

Article Abstract:
Hawken rifles are some of the most impressive muzzle-loading black powder rifles ever built. Many surviving pieces are in private collections, but some can be found in museums throughout the US.

Liberty cap contract muskets
Article Abstract:
Pennsylvania contracted for muskets in 1797 to arm its militia. The arms suppliers identified themselves with marks and the "Liberty Cap" was one of them.
