Two mansions in Tarrytown, NY, stand out for their Gilded Age opulence. The Kykuit estate was built by John D Rockefeller Sr in 1906 while the Castle at Tarrytown was constructed in 1910 by Gen Howard Carroll.

Petroglyphs Provincial Park, Ontario, preserves a marble facade comprising 800 Algonian carvings from A.D. 900 to 1400. The park is 35 miles northeast of Peterborough; the site was likely a sacred retreat.
