Two centuries of US weaponry are housed in the Springfield Armory in Springfield, MA. It was chosen by Gen. George Washington in 1777 as a safe and strategic spot to store weapons and ammunition, and later evolved to be a plant for military small arms, due to its water supply and skilled labor.

Franklin D Roosevelt spent his boyhood summers on the Canadian island of Campobello. Tourists can visit his family's home, which was built in 1897, and tour the surrounding Campobello International Park, which features gardens, hiking trails and beaches.

Blithewold Gardens and Arboretum features a 45-room English manor-style mansion built by the widow of Pennsylvania coal magnate Augustus Van Wickle. The stone and stucco mansion is surrounded by 33 acres of grounds, including seven gardens.
