Amigos de Sian Ka'an won the 'Conde Nast Traveler's second annual Ecotourism Award. The group implemented sustainable land management, making commercial tourism viable without adversely affecting the environment of Sian Ka'an. However, most of the island's waterfront is privately owned by Mexicans.

Antarctica's popularity problem
