The techniques used by hospitals, museums and charities to obtain large donations are considered. Fundraising activity is particularly significant for Washington, DC, where many non-profit organizations are based. Several of these organizations have CEOs with top-level government experience.

Political journalist Jack Germond spends his spare time at the horse races. He finds that horse racing and politics have some similarities. There are, however, more factors to consider in horse racing than in politics. For him horses are harder to understand than politicians.
