China rocked

The historic town of Lijiang, China, was rocked by a 7.0 intensity earthquake on Feb. 3, 1996. The town had just started to emerge as a haven for tourists because of its quaint old houses and cobbled roads. Lijiang has been inhabited by the Nakhi, a non-Chinese group.

Scarlet Deford was born of Filipino parents but was adopted and raised by an American couple in the US. Scarlet visited the Philippines with her parents when she was 13 to discover for herself what Filipino culture is like.
