Due to the military activity in the Balkans, Yugoslavia in particular, the summer cruise season throughout Europe has suffered. Consequently, cruise lines are offering rates discounted as much as 50% and other incentives in an effort to attract passengers. Previous years' demand also led cruise lines to add more capacity, which also contributes to the slow season.

Winter cruises: good prices

Prices for cruises are expected to remain stable for the next several years as the number of ships and rooms available grows. Travelers who reserve spaces close to the departure date will pay about the same as travelers who made reservations two months in advance. Discounts are available.
