Dale Guthrie: time traveler

Dale Guthrie of the University of Alaska at Fairbanks is an expert on the prehistoric animals that used to roam the area, especially bison and mammoths. He wrote a book about the discovery of 'Blue Babe,' a 36,000 year old bison carcass found near Fairbanks in 1979.

Last barge before winter

The tugboat Tanana of the Yutana Barge Lines makes the last supply run before the Yukon River freezes for winter. The barge line delivers supplies to remote villages for 120 days each summer. Communities along the river are described.
