English Enfields in Confederate service
Article Abstract:
Confederate soldiers used Pattern 1853 Enfield rifle-muskets during the Civil War. About 300,000 of these British-made weapons were deployed during this period. They were mostly created by private barrel, stock and lock manufacturers and do not have the crown and VR cipher or similar marks.

The pepperbox: an American original
Article Abstract:
The pepperbox revolver was the most popular handgun on the market in 1849. The five- or six-shot revolver was designed by Ethan Allen of Massachusetts. It possesses a distinct place in the history and development of firearms for its revolutionary design and strong performance in the market.

From the Old World to the New

A wheellock carbine of Italian origin owned by John Alden, a member of the Plymouth Colony, is currently being displayed in the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, VA. This musket is very similar to many early firearms connected with the Pilgrim settlers.
