Placido Domingo, world-famous tenor and head of the Washington National Opera, created the Cafritz Young Artists Program to bring promising young singers and musicians from around the world to study with him in Washington. The maestro, who even at the age of 63 thrills the fans with his gifted voice and attracts lots of accolades and respect, is working on a new opera, Democracy: An American comedy, based on Henry Adam's 1880 novel about corruption in the Grant administration.
