Anthony S. Fauci gained his reputation as a tireless doctor when he was still chief medical resident of the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center. At 52 years old, Fauci has been appointed chief of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases where he is responsible for AIDS research.

What a great job

Most people think that all doctors have elegant cars, fat bank accounts and life's other luxuries. However, numerous malpractice suits, high exposure to fatal diseases, physical exhaustion and unrealistic incomes are just hiding under the cover of the good life that they project.

Doctors are expected to draw an inviolable line between themselves and their patients. The medical profession frowns upon personal involvement as unethical. However, doctors are also human and people need to understand that it is not so easy to distance oneself all the time.
