The Klondike fever started in 1897 when George Carmack and two of his friends chanced upon gold nuggets along a stream bed in the Klondike region of Canada. The stampede created towns that became the cities of present-day Alaska. The lifestyles and mining practices of the settlers are shown.

Women who joined the Klondike Gold Rush were an enterprising lot and some of them left behind legacies that other women may emulate. These women include Anna De Graf, Jennie Bosco Harper Alexander, Lucille Hunter and Klondy Nelson Dufresne.
