Painter Walter Anderson of Ocean Springs, MS, created many of his best works during his frequent visits to Horn Island in the Gulf of Mexico. Ocean Springs' Walter Anderson Museum of Art houses two galleries of Anderson's paintings. Accommodations in the Horn Island region are described.

Prehistoric spirit world: Seminole Canyon, Texas

The Seminole Canyon contains drawings by Native Americans who represented their physical and spiritual worlds in rock wall paintings. Now a state historical park, the pictographs are believed to be 2,000 to 8,000 years old. Visitor information is provided.
