Gustavus: classic country inns

Gustavus, Alaska, situated 48 miles northwest of Juneau, is reached through air carriers and the Auk Nu passenger ferry. The town is dotted with country inns serving home-cooked meals of vegetables and local fish. Its local waters is famous for its bountiful fish catch and humpback whales.

The Delta Junction of Alaska, situated in the area's heartland, is famous for the many roadhouses built during the start of the 20th century along trail from Valdez to Fairbanks. The area is also known for local food recipes, such as tomato soup, butterloaf, and slaw.
