The residents of eastern and southeastern parts of the Washington District, known as Ward 7 and 8 find it very difficult getting groceries at wholesome and affordable rates from a large supermarket close to their homes or within walking distances as many of them lack cars. There are triple the number of supermarkets in high-income neighborhood compared to the poor neighborhood and the uneven distribution exposes people of all age groups to health problems due to inadequate diets which have a lifelong impact.

Making peace

Article Abstract:

A daughter speaks about her relationship with her parents during adolescence and early adult years of her life, when she shared a strong relationship with her father, but had tough times with her mother Helene. However at the age of 50, she has learnt to control herself when her mother complains, has learned to love her more than ever, and does not want to miss any moments with her mother who has become her friend, her drinking partner, and her destiny.
