Memoirs of a last fishing expedition before succumbing to the long cold winter in Alaska are presented. The Upper Kenai River is deserted from other fishermen and the winter rainbow trout are large and heavy. Advice on clothing and tips for success are included.

A personal narrative of a visit to the Moose Research Center, on the Kenai peninsular, Alaska is presented. Biologists at the centre are studying moose diets in particular to ensure future breeding success.
