The elimination of inshore gillnets and increase in squid population are the two reasons for the increase in halibut fishing on the Catalina Island. Boat anglers are required to carry a lending net with a hoop measuring at least 18 inches in diameter as per the regulations and the daily bag limit is five fish per licensed angler.

Article Abstract:
The meaning of quality catch-and-release is discussed in the context of saving more number of fishes from dying after being released. Proper stand-up techniques are helpful in getting the billfish to the boat faster and it improves the chances of its survival.
