The Lake Tahoe region of California and Nevada offers travelers much recreational diversity year-round. The area also has a rich history, as it was made famous by author Mark Twain, has nearby mining towns that relive their heydays, hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics, is infamous for the events of the Donner party, and as a point on a migration trail.
