Somerset House in London, UK had a facelift in 1990 when the Courtauld Insitute moved in, bringing with it a collection of pictures by artists such as Van Gogh, Renoir and Manet. The eighteenth-century building also features an exhibition of work from the Hermitage Palace, and in May 2001 opened a collection of Italian micromosaics.

The Musee d'Orsay has remained one of the the most popular tourist attractions in Paris, France since 1986. The building, which was part of the Orsay railway station in 1898, was gateway to Paris' most exclusive neighborhood, the Faubourg-St. Germain.
