The NAACP, which sought to blame firearm makers for criminal shooting in African-American communities, failed to convince a jury during a six-week trial. They wanted the court to require manufacturers and distributors to use the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives law enforcement trace database to examine federally licensed dealers.

Detroit's lawsuit against gunmakers rejected by Michigan court of appeals
Article Abstract:
The Michigan Court of Appeals unanimously rejected lawsuits filed by Detroit and Wayne County, Michigan against the firearm industry. The court ruled that the law enacted in 2000 barred such suits and reversed a Wayne County circuit judges who allowed the lawsuits to continue .

The anti-gunners brought up a scheme to ban firearms by using government-financed lawsuits to bankrupt gun manufacturers. However, Congress considered this as an important law to stop these predatory lawsuits and protected the nation's firearm manufacturers.
