A multitude of NRA friends and families came together to celebrate Second amendment freedom and to pay tribute to its leasing man, Charlton Heston, at the close of his unprecedented five-year run as NRA president. The show proved a fun-filled weekend with dozen of activities for young and old, despite the war in Iraq and concerns about the spread of SARS.

General Joseph J. Foss died at a hospital near his home in Scottsdale, Ariz on 1st January, 2003. General Foss served the membership of the National Rifle Association as a member of its Board of Directors since 1983, as its President from 1988-1990 and as a member of the Association's Executive Council.
