Article Abstract:
A Franciscan friar, Padre Junipero Serra, established the nine of the 21 California missions located along El Camino Real between San Diego and Sonoma. Five missions are described: San Juan Bautista, San Miguel Arcangel, La Purisma, Santa Barbara and San Juan Capistrano.
