On Oregon's coast
Article Abstract:
The Oregon coast draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. However, the coast does not get as crowded as other tourist destinations since visitors have a choice of 80 state parks and two national parks to spend their vacations. There are also miles of beaches and trails along the coast.

A fight for fresh water
Article Abstract:
Three-fourths of the earth's surface is covered with water but less than three percent of that water is fresh. Global water pollution is caused by toxic runoffs, acid rain, leaking storage tanks and other contaminants. Public concern is the first step towards solution of the problem.

City at the crossroads
Article Abstract:
Istanbul, Turkey is a wonderful mix of eastern and western culture, as well as the old and the new. The city' numerous historical sites speaks of Istanbul's once-glorious past. The Hagia Sophia, for one, reflects the country's transformation from a Christian nation to a Muslim one.
