David Galenson, 54, a professor of economics at the University of Chicago explores his theory that artists can predict their career arc depending in which category they fall. He believes that there are two types of artists, conceptual artists introducing bold innovations and conceiving quickly on the one hand, and experimentalists on the other hand who develop their technique through trial and error over a long period of time.
