'The Laramie Project' will have its first Chicago production at the Next Theatre in Evanston on November 12th. The play is based on interviews with real citizens of Laramie, Wyoming, the town where Matthew Shepard, the young gay man who was murdered in a hate-crime in 1998.

Rebecca Gilman comments on her newest play, 'Blue Surge', that portrays a relationship between a small-town policeman and an 18-year-old prostitute. Gilman, from Trussville, Alabama, says several characters intentionally resemble figures from her childhood.
