Alan Tye
Article Abstract:
Industrial designer Alan Tye has developed the Healthy Industrial Design (HID) system which takes into account antecedents such as a product's cultural context prior to project design. Four governing principles of 'material means,' 'habitual conditioning,' 'task or job,' and 'healthy human' must be considered for each project. Tye is trained in interior design and building crafts such as bricklaying, and aims to design everything in architecture. He believes interior designers degrade architecture rather than enhance a building. People who are about to start out in industrial design should have a unique talent and should not copy.
