Robert Pincus, a Hyattsville-born and -bred banker, worked with DC National Bank saw its assets grow from $180 million to $1.2 billion. In 1991, he took over Franklin National Bank and Washington saw its real estate in a slump in that year. It was Pincus who saw it as an opportunity to keep the clients going, resulting the growth of Franklin National's assets from $45 million to $900 million.

Banker Joseph Riley rose to become chairman of the National Savings and Trust Bank through his intuitive approach to lending. Riley continues to serve as a consultant to Crestar Bank and is also an officer of the Kiwanis Foundation and the Washington Conventions and Visitors Assn.

Thornton Owen: he banked on the city's strength
Article Abstract:
Thornton Owen was one of Washington, DC's foremost bankers. He made the Perpetual American Federal Savings and Loan Assn into one of the largest savings and loan associations in the country. He was also a housing and commercial developer. He died in 1983 at the age of 79.
