Saving Chipo
Article Abstract:
A heart-rending story of an infant abandoned amidst chest-high grass in Zimbabwe is narrated by the parents who adopted her despite the bureaucratic tangles they got into in a country facing political unrest. The couple in question were eyed with suspicion because they were whites while the girl was an African-American but they did not take any short cuts to adopt the child and are happy that the girl who is six is living life to the fullest in the US.

The staying power of Alfred Street and First Baptist, surviving through 200 years of wars, depression, social upheavals, and pastors is inspiring.
