Should smoking be banned?

Opinions on whether smoking should be completely banned in bars and restaurants in England are presented taking into account the hazardous effects of smoking on nonsmokers. The Department of Health (DoH) is funding Tobacco Control Alliances to work in communities to raise awareness, and to increase smoke free environment.

The smoker's shrinking world

A UN proposal to ban smoking on all international flights will take effect in Jul. 1996. However, some international airlines oppose a total ban on smoking aboard airplanes for fear of losing passengers. Laws and practices on public smoking in various countries are listed.

Smoking ban: airports, too
Article Abstract:
Over 15 US airports have banned or restricted cigarette smoking. The bans come in response to the Environmental Protection Agency's classification of cigarette smoke as a carcinogen and pressure from anti-smoking and and flight attendant groups.
