Foreign-owned R&D expanding in United States
Article Abstract:
The US Office of Technology, an arm of the Dept of Commerce's Technology Administration, reports a tripling of R&D spending by both foreign-owned businesses in the US and by US-based enterprises located overseas. The trend is seen as a dramatic proof of the progressive globalization of science and technology. The study also revealed a growing number of foreign owned US patents and patents from US-based companies that were generated from overseas research facilities.
