Farmer Education and Farm Efficiency in Nepal: The Role of Schooling, Extension Services, and Cognitive Skills
Article Abstract:
The formal and informal education of rural peoples in the Terai region of Nepal has been studied. The relation between education and farmer efficiency is the topic of a 1978 monograph. This update includes variables previously overlooked in the earlier study. Among these variables are the background of farm operators and aspects of their cognitive skill. The effects of education are positive in relation to three major crops. Farmer knowledge and modernity do not correlate with farm efficiency. Family background does not relate to the effects of education.

BMP-1: resurrection as procollagen C-proteinase
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that bone morphogenetic protein 1 (BNP1) is not a member of the transforming growth factor-Beta family, but a protease. However, BMP1's substrate is procollagen rather than transforming growth factor-Beta. BMP-1 and procollagen C-proteinase are identical.
