The decision that changed everything
Article Abstract:
The US Supreme Court on May 17, 1954 struck down laws that mandated African Americans and the Whites attend separate schools. The court's ruling in the case of Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas set the stage for sweeping civil-rights laws of the 1960s and inspired people to demand equality. Opinions of various people with regard to this ruling are featured.
