Caribou moose weigh between 200 and 600 pounds and are difficult to hunt despite their high population in Alaska in 1993. About 31 herds exist with about 900,000 caribou total. Hunting laws and technique are discussed.

News for Nelchina caribou hunters
Article Abstract:
The Alaska Board of Game is allowing twice as many permits for caribou hunting as in the past. In the 1992-93 season 7,000 permits will be issued. Statistics for the herd and locations are given.
