The external appearance of the Sauer Models 90 and 202 bolt rifles reflect old world influences of craftmanship but belie the improved technological workings of the rifles. Much of the improvements are manifested in the Model 90's rear locking lugs on the bolt and the Model 202's improved receiver.

The National Rifle Assn. (NRA) conducts a yearly shooting competition, called the National Action Pistol Championship. The competition, started by John Bianchi in 1979, was originally called the Bianchi Cup Invitational Pistol Tournament before the NRA took control of it in 1984.
