The sinking of St. Mark's
Article Abstract:
The lagoon that borders Venice, Italy, has caused St. Mark's Square to flood more than 100 times since 1991. City officials are considering a three-step process to reduce the chances of flooding by protecting the lagoon with gates, raising the height of the seawall and sealing the drains. The amount of flooding has increased due in part to changes in weather patterns.
