Teachers and principals are encouraging all students, not just the bright one, to take on tougher courses as researchers have found that students who struggle with advanced work gain from the exposure to it. Some of the schools setting high expectations for their students are Wakefield High, Montgomery County and Gaithersburg High.

The film 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington' directed by Frank Capra exaggerated Washington's horror during the screening. However, Capra was only distorting to make the film more truthful.
