A personal narrative of a boating accident in the waters off Kodiak Island is presented. Where risks are concerned, a sense of perspective is needed and instead of worrying about the slight possibility of rare events it is better to be prepared for more commonplace incidents.

Snipe hunt

A huntsman describes how he saw some snipe while he was on a fishing expedition, but he did not have his gun with him. The next day he returned to the same spot with his dog and his gun but the snipe had disappeared.
