What lies beneath
Article Abstract:
The Environmental Protection Act (EPA) in April 2004 began to enforce compliance with the Beaches Environmental Assessment and Costal Health (BEACH) Act of 2000 across the US in which costal states are required to meet federal standards for monitoring water quality. The EPA contends that the BEACH Act was a significant step in preventing beach pollution, as there were about 12,000 beaches closing and advisories in 2002.
