Some cancer patients prefer to battle the disease through alternatives such as acupuncture, herbs, vitamins, meditation, tai-chi and other Asian exercises. Most patients benefited from supplementing the conventional treatment, making them stronger and more in control.

Music has been found by researchers to positively influence the spatial, verbal and mathematical abilities of children. Making students listen to Mozart's piano music, for instance, increased IQ test scores. Furthermore, music helps a shy child gain self-confidence.
